(Photo by Joe Robbins/Getty Images)After Brett McMurphy’s report, which indicates that Urban Meyer knew about allegations against former Ohio State assistant Zach Smith, there is a ton of heat on the Buckeyes coach. It is too early to know whether this situation will cost Meyer his job. Obviously, if he knew, kept Smith on his staff for three more years, and lied about it to the Big Ten media in Chicago last week, it looks extremely bad.Naturally, as is wont to happen when giant stories like this drop, sports oddsmakers get busy.Earlier this afternoon, My Bookie had Meyer at -200 to be fired over these allegations. The odds for Meyer to remain ahead of Game 1 was just +160.BetDSI, another online sportsbook, has much different Urban Meyer odds.It has Meyer at -300 coach remain head coach on September 1, when the Buckeyes season begins. The site has the odds of him being fired at +240.The site also lists some interesting names to take over, if Meyer is fired. In that case, defensive coordinator Greg Schiano has to be the overwhelming favorite to take over. He is a former head coach at Rutgers and with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and is one of the team’s highest-ranked assistants.Perhaps most importantly, Schiano didn’t join the program until 2016, after the allegations of violence, and the Smiths’ divorce. That gives him some plausible deniability.Other names on the list are Les Miles, Rich Rodriguez, Jim Tressel, Lane Kiffin, Tom Herman, Jim Harbaugh, and Nick Saban. None of those bets are worth your money.[BetDSI]last_img
