Photo credit: GIS NewsHead of the University of the West Indies Open Campus Dr. Francis Severin has called on the persons living with disabilities in Dominica to speak out against issues affecting them.Dr. Severin was the featured speaker at the 27th Annual General Meeting of the Dominica Association of Persons Living with Disabilities on Monday. He says the disabled community should continue to agitate for the ratification on the convention on the rights of persons with disabilities.“I never buy the explanation of lack of funds. We find funds to do a lot of other things. It is unfortunate that we have a perception of our politicians as being interested in only what allows them to win the next general elections,” he said.He said persons living with disabilities form a significant and critical percentage of the Dominica population.“I do not know what percentage you form of the electorate but that becomes a very critical proportion or percentage of the Dominican population. That becomes critical in any decision by any government or political party to take on board your concerns. It is incumbent of you to make your voices heard at all times on all issues,” he said.Dominica Vibes News Share 25 Views no discussions Share Tweet
